Description

Sea Surface Temperature (SST): The daily mean 1/4° optimal interpolation sea surface temperature is constructed by combining observational data from different platforms (satellites, ships, buoys) on a regular global grid. Interpolation is used to fill in the gaps and generate spatially complete maps of sea surface temperature. The satellite sea surface temperature used in this dataset is derived from AVHRR. Monthly mean SST is obtained by averaging all daily mean data within each month. The unit is degrees Celsius (°C).
