Description

Sea Surface Wind Speed (SSW): The CCMP dataset combines cross-calibrated satellite microwave wind field data with observations based on the VAM method to generate high-resolution (0.25-degree) gridded data. The reanalyzed wind fields from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) ERA-Interim are used as the initial wind fields in the processing of CCMP V2.0. All observations (satellite and buoys) and model analysis fields are referenced to the wind field at 10 meters height. Daily mean data is obtained by averaging the 6-hourly data within each day. The unit is m s^-1.
