Description

The dataset is derived from the publicly available Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas (SOCATv2023), which consists of in situ partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) data from the surface ocean. After undergoing processes such as data quality control, data transformation, and data gridding, gridded in situ data from 1952 to 2022 for global sea surface pCO2, sea surface temperature (SST), and sea surface salinity (SSS) are generated at a resolution of 1°×1°.
The pCO2 is derived from the sea water fugacity of carbon dioxide (fCO2), calculated using the empirical formula from Takahashi, specifically: pCO2= fCO2×(1.00436-4.669×10-5×SST).
