Recently, the 2023 Science and Technology Annual Meeting of Zhejiang Environmental Science Society was held in Hangzhou. At the meeting, the "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Innovations in Ecological Environment of the Zhejiang Province in 2023", "Zhejiang Ecological Environment Science and Technology Award in 2023", "Zhejiang Ecological Environment Science and Technology Award in 2023" were released. "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Innovations for Provincial Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutralization", "Zhejiang Province's 2023 Outstanding Practitioner Unit for Survey, Assessment, Treatment and Restoration of Contaminated Lands". The result "High-resolution Satellite Remote Sensing Monitoring Technology for Sewage Discharge into the Sea and Offshore Water Quality" led by researcher He Xianqiang of our office was selected into the list of "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Innovations for Ecological Environment in the Zhejiang Province in 2023". Researcher Wang Difeng received the certificate on behalf of the project team.
This achievement was jointly obtained by the Second Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Zhejiang Provincial Ecological Environment Monitoring Center. It addresses key issues in marine ecological and environmental protection such as sewage discharge from outlets into the sea, traceability of pollutants in rivers entering the sea, and refined monitoring of bay and offshore water quality. This project also developed the modern surveillance and monitoring technology of "integrating heaven and earth", and provided operational water quality remote sensing monthly monitoring reports for 7 coastal cities in the Zhejiang Province and the Zhejiang digital government platform "Zheli Blue Ocean". On the other hand, the project highlighted the importance of satellite remote sensing technology at sea discharge outlets, river and coastal water quality monitoring and unique advantages in serving local ecological environment supervision. It can detect suspected water quality pollution problems more efficiently and quickly. This technology also provided technical support for marine environment quality assurance tasks during the sailing competition of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2023.
